What Can We Expect?

Nay - we did not invent the idea of exporting the free, natural treasures of the Finnish forests. Indeed, the export market has more than tripled over the last 15 years. According to Finnish Food Authority (Marsi 2023: Luonnonmarjojen ja -sienten kauppaantulomäärät vuonna 2023) the economically three most important wild berries are mountain cranberry, blueberry, and cloudberry. Of those the cheapest and easiest to transport is mountain cranberry with the value of some 1.5 € / kg, while the more fragile blueberry costs around 2 € per kilo, and queen of all berries cloudberry over 10 € / kg.

Yet, even if the development has been quite rapid in the natural berries' export sector, its total annual value is still very tiny, only some 30 million €, out of which some third is processed to juices, jellies, or dried berries. In contrast, the global market is practically without limits. Health food is a big international trend in general, and the clean northern nature, characterized by remarkable seasonal fluctuation in both temperature and amount of daylight, in particular, create a splendid business opportunity for high quality superfood products.

Our target is set to the very top of this global 1 000 000 000 000 € market - yes, it is reaching to 1 000 billion euros per annum in the next couple of years. Instead of large quantities, we will concentrate in creating a forerunner brand name for those who really appreciate high quality.
In 2024, we will merely research the most bountiful regions for the different berries, the most effective practises to organize the harvesting, the markets, the transportation options, and how to contact the best clients and partners. Marketing the final products will take both time and investments, but we do believe it will be worth the trouble.

Qui vivra verra.
